Viewing Grant Proposal: Ypsilanti Performance Space_Solar EV Charging Stations
We plan to install four Beam EV ARC solar-powered charging systems in the City of Ypsilanti to provide
more solar-powered EV charging stations for public use. The YPSI, centrally located in the City of
Ypsilanti, has one of the largest rooftop solar installations in the city. Since 2018, it has powered the
only public EV chargers in the city with two Level-2 chargers. By installing these new charging stations,
we can provide eight additional Level-2 charging stations in the parking lot of The YPSI for public use.

As a current City Councilmember for the City of Ypsilanti, I am in full support of this project, to bring additional public EV charging systems to the City of Ypsilanti. This EV installation supports the future mobility needs of Ypsilanti, with the growth of electric vehicles. This project will help EV users better navigate historic Ypsilanti by allowing more charging options. This project advances Ypsilanti's solar footprint in southeast Michigan and continues to show the importance for investment in clean solar energy.

As a fully battery electric EV driver over the last 3 years and downtown Ypsilanti Resident that utilizes charging services at the Ypsilanti Performance venue, I fully support this proposal to install additional chargers. This initiative represents a significant step forward in promoting sustainable transportation options and reducing our community's carbon footprin. We must continue to reinforce the infrastructure necessary to become more inviting and sustainable to future generations.
Moreover, these charging stations will contribute to the economic development of our city by attracting environmentally conscious consumers and supporting local businesses. They will enhance the accessibility and appeal of The YPSI as a hub for sustainable initiatives and community engagement. Additional charging infrastructure will also encourage nearby residents and renters to more fully take advantage of the benefits of their plug in hybrids or consider a switch to PHEV or BEV vehicles.

Ypsilanti has been named a leader in the solar energy space, but mostly for private use. This would significantly increase availability of EV charging to improve accessibility of EVs in the area!!

I support a grant for 8 EV solar charging stations at the Ypsi in downtown Ypsilanti. The Ypsi is a positive community contributor. The charging stations will be a welcome ( and necessary) addition to the city.
